Part time work and pensions

A family member has a health condition that means they are only able to work for under 16 hours a week. At aged 32 they had assumed they would be living in their own house and employed full time. In reality they can’t afford to move out even if their health was significantly better. They earn approximately 6K a year, are not receiving benefits as their Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is not “ severe enough “ but are worried as to what they can do to make the most of what money they do have.
