This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning

Seems the predicted storm didn't really happen here ...either that or I slept through it which is a possibility. Looks calm out now which I am pleased about but I haven't ventured out yet

Off to Yorkshire for a course this morning but its only a couple of hours so should be home just after lunch traffic permitting thats kinda why I didn't want to stay over I can get more done at home this way. Despite the couple of hours only I have still made up my car butties ..cheese and pickle today :D

Had a mega productive day yesterday got all my prep done and the house had a rare lick and promise :)

Anyway off soon so best get on. Have a lovely day all hope the storm was kind to you all

    Morning everyone

I hope that everyone is ok after the storm yesterday and that no one has suffered much damage. It wasn’t too bad here, but I did wonder how those of you who were more in its path were coping. I hope it soon blew over after you posted yesterday Gers.

I feel much better for a couple of days not doing a lot other than reading and watching TV. So today I’m going to have a slow wander down to the larger supermarket, I feel like a walk will do me good.

When I get back I’ll tackle a bit of housework, mainly the dusting and vacuuming of the lounge and bedroom. If I feel ok I may even progress to the kitchen, but we will see.

At least my brother was able to fix the leak from the bathroom hand basin yesterday. I kept forgetting to put a bowl under it when I emptied it and got wet feet a couple of times.

OL I hope that your daughter is ok.
Nelski hopefully the drive isn’t too bad.
Nanny it sounds like you have a lovely inquisitive DGD.
Taff that is how my sister in law got their cat, he slowly moved himself in over a period of time and they have had him 12 years now.
ScarletRibbon I hope that the trim matched your curtains.

Have a good a day everyone whatever you are doing.

Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread Nelski.

I've had quite a busy few days though nothing of huge interest.

OL I hope your DD is ok, how horribly worrying for you, being so far away must make it seem worse.

We have had strong winds here but I think I'd struggle to describe it as a real storm. Not sure what today will bring.

Thinking of Poppy and of all the regular posters who are not here at present.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning All

Lovely calm morning after the storm, we may even see a little sunshine today.

DD and I went to the Vegan show yesterday, nothing exciting but lots of tasters! We had the cheek to go for lunch after then a wander around the city centre.

Sorry to hear your DD isn't well OL, children are always such a worry no matter where they live.
Missing you TA, tru and Csarina.
    Hugs to the poorlies.

I'm back to swimming this morning, the ABs are finished and my ear seems to be OK, time will tell!

    Happy Monday, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light and much calmer than yesterday was rather blustery and raining on and off all day, but not cold.

DH up and getting ready for work, DS1 still in his pit as he's on annual leave this week, and I'm showered, dressed and have just finished my usual breakfast of porridge.

Lunch yesterday was roast lamb for myself and DH, DS2 had char sui pork - we were all out for the day, as youngest left home to go and start his new job today, he's worked incredibly hard for this and we couldn't be more proud. Yesterday was a long day, journey back was a bit of a nightmare on the roads but we got home eventually!

Dinner tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I'll have baked fish, jacket potato and veg.

Back to work today, hoping for a busy one as it just makes the day pass quicker.

We had an email over the weekend saying DH's passport has been approved so will be on it's way to us shortly. It's cost a lot but if it arrives this week it will have taken less than 2 weeks from application to receiving the new passport - can't moan at that but can fully understand how so many people are losing their jobs due to the technology.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good morning folks.

The storm never reached here at all, Saturday and Sunday were much worse.

It's so lovely to see the light coming back earlier now.

Today my cleaner is coming so I'll make myself scarce. I'm going to give some extra help to a student from last semester who still hasn't produced some work. He's behind because he should have had learning support much earlier but it's still not in place.

I hope that everyone is doing OK, especially our mispers! And poppy, my thoughts are with you too.

    Happy Monday to all.

Good morning, it's grey and windy here but the rain has stopped, it was really heavy last night. Hope you've all survived the storm

i got the trim for the curtains, thanks for asking Holly. Last night I would have sewed it on But I rang a friend at 7.30, and didn't come off the phone till 9pm. By then I couldn't be bothered so will do it later, I would have done them in the afternoon, but I made fishcakes and other delicacies for the freezer, then it was tea time, you get the idea.

Taff you were saying you liked haberdashery, I do as well, there's something about all those little bits and pieces. I like stationery as well.

DP1, it's lovely that you were able to spend time with your granddaughter yesterday. She must be tiny,I would have been scared to touch her!! Our youngest grandchild will be a year old at the end of this month, it's unbelievable how the time has passed.

Today, I'm visiting a friend this morning, then dashing off to the book club. That'll be the morning gone
. Then if DGD wants to I 'll take her to the library after school, there's a little craft club, and she can come back here for tea, wear her Granddad out, then go home at about 6.30 - 7.00. She doesn't want to stay at the minute, she's a little bit clingy to her Mum.

Thinking of all the sad and poorly people,

    Take care folks

    Good morning one and all,

    Happy Monday :)

A standard weekend for me now includes; yoga/exercise, football, visiting the SM, meal prep, washing and tidying up. And that was no different this weekend. I enjoy the routine, so I can't complain.

No gym this morning as my legs are still aching from the football yesterday so I'll save myself for yoga tonight. Also, with the class not finishing till 9.00, I find I'm ruining out of a suitable time to have dinner, so I've decided to fast from today's lunch until tomorrows lunch. A doddle.

My landlord was over on Saturday morning with a gas man who explained that I need a new boiler, which will be fitted this Wednesday. It means I need to work from home but I should feel the benefit of better heating and lower bills afterwards, so I'm not complaining. My landlord is great. Always going above and beyond which is brilliant. I need to make sure i do the same for my tenants.

Right must get going. Have a lovely week ahead everyone!

Nelski - A lick and promise? Is that some new lingo I need to get used to? I've never heard it before but I'm assuming it means the once over, like a deep clean and tidy?
Camelot - Are you vegan? I'm always curious as to why people switch...
OL - Glad to hear your DD is better today. Mums can always tell when somethings not quite right.

Good morning chums bright but nippy this morning and a bit windy as well.a pottering day for me today, my joints are telling me that rain is around and so I am feeling a bit creaky this morning .But by lunchtime I shall be OK and will go round and let DDs dogs out into the garden for a run etc
No shopping to buy and I have some nice parsnip and apple soup for lunch with crackers.Dinner will be a big salad I think with perhaps for a change some pichards I buy the tiny tins and mix with some mayo and lots of salady bit and its very tasty and makes a nice change

Hope everyone is safe and well and not suffered too much damage from the stormy weather.

Take care and keep wrapped up ,Pancake day tomorrow then Lent so I shall put my thinking cap on and decide what I am giving up for Lent this year :):)
