Shared owneship resale - housing association have to approve mortgage

We’re buying a resale shared ownership property and the housing association have to approve our mortgage apparently before the purchase can go through.

Last time they did it it took them 4 weeks to reject it, and the seller has lost her purchase so we had to wait.

Now they’ve had our new mortgage offer for about 2 weeks and have heard nothing from them and our solicitors are not being particularly helpful only saying “nothing else I can do”.
Now we’re only 24 years old so I’m not sure if the solicitor are treating us like children - they’ve been acting like they’re doing us a favour all along, and even went on holiday without saying anything with no one for us to contact if we needed them.
Is it worth contacting them more often to see if they can get it approved sooner ? At this rate I’m losing any hope of moving anytime soon ...

  • I’m bringing this up because it’s been over a month and all my solicitor can say “were chasing but haven’t heard anything from them”

Has anyone had this experience with shared ownership associations ?

We have just sold our property which is shared ownership, we had to get the go ahead to place it on the market once we had an offer our solicitor had to ask the housing association weather they would also accept it and they then had to instruct their solicitor to send our solicitor an offer to sell. Took one week for our solicitor to receive the go ahead and we move out at the end of the month, so I would be pushing your solicitor and also your housing association for something.
