Petition to keep the Swindon Honds Plant Open

The demand for cars in the UK has been increased by cheap credit deals.
I see people on minimum wage driving nearly new cars. A few years ago that was not the case.
It seems as if cheap credit is filling the gap left by stagnant / falling wages.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Maybe car prices will start to fall?0 -
The directors of Honda have a legal duty to their shareholders.
It would probably be illegal for them to take notice of petitions.
How would you feel about it if you were a Honda shareholder?0 -
Talking of fools telling lies, there's a whopper just there..
You have to laugh at people like "Arklight" whose whole lives seem to be defined by Brexit, to the point of obsession.
So you believe everything that Honda and Tory Mp's say ?Honda has warned a no-deal Brexit would cost it tens of millions of pounds in additional tariffs and would damage its competitiveness, but the Japanese carmaker said it was committed to its factory in Swindon.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

You realise that the EU/Japan trade deal wasn't agreed until December 2018 don't you?
So of course it must surely be pure coincidence, the change in stance between the date of your link (September 2018 ) and the trade deal coming into effect in February 2019.
Sure it was.
There was no material change in circumstances, really.0 -

So Japan have a free trade deal with the EU but the UK wouldn't if Brexiteers get their way. How is that nothing to do with Brexit?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. We could always use the plant to start recreating British Leyland. After all that was a big success last time round0 -
If you want Honda to stay in the UK, press your MP to ensure that we remain in the single market. Honda have made it clear that leaving the single market kills their UK business model dead.0

Honda warned repeatedly about the risk of Brexit. You can read the stories going back to 2017 if you Google "Honda Brexit warning". I can't be bothered to link to them all and the Brexit-heads wouldn't read them if they were three words in length and a mile high, because it wouldn't match their current version of reality.
Hell, they ignored them while they were happening.
Here's one from the Guardian:A senior figure at Honda listed a catalogue of risks posed by Brexit at a briefing near its Swindon plant last year, fuelling doubts about the carmaker’s insistence that Britain’s withdrawal from the EU had nothing to do with the factory’s closure.
As for Honda saying Brexit has nothing to do with their closure, now, well can't upset their customers. Apparently the new Civic is going to have a Pringles holder installed. It'll be called "The Brexit Edition" and you get a free photo of the factory worker who won't have a job anymore.0 -

Sounds cool, does the defection from diesel make any difference?Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0 -
What's the proposal to keep it open? Guilt trip Honda into staying? Bribe them?
Have the government take over the factory and start building Austin Princess' again?
Post brexit we could really do with a local car manufacturer making cheap, crap and simple cars. We'll be able to lower safety and environmental standards to allow the return of some 70's classics. Brown cars seems to be popular again already.0
