Halifax exit fee

I'm hoping to claim back the fee Halifax charged me when I transferred my mortgage - but I cannot find my mortgage account number do I need this to quote when I phone them. I know the dates but cannot find any paperwork from the Halifax

    Give Halifax a call they should be able to find your details through personnal information

    You cannot claim the fee back. Only the difference between what was in place when you took out the mortgage (or later deal if you changed the terms) and what you were charged when you paid the mortgage off.

    I rang Halifax last Friday - without any reference numbers and they were brilliant - I used this telephone number

    08451 203033

    basically they really couldn't have been nicer and more helpful - no forms to complete - result is they are paying me back the difference in redemption fees that showed when I opened the mortgage and when I redeemed - she even dug around to find the one that finished in 2002 and getting a tenner back from that one as well as the one I rang about!

    For some bizarre reason I read the article and did nothing for a while - it took 5 minutes and I am hopefully £150 better off - awaiting cheque this week
