False Nails help!

Its fair to say im a bit of a lad, I dont bite my nails but they are never long because usually I have my hands in something....

Its my wedding anniversary on friday and OH is taking me away. Im considering having overlays (?) on my nails, french manicure style. A girl Im at Uni with has them and hers always look lovely.

Im curious though, how much roughly is this going to cost and more importantly how long will it last??

hi they can cost any thing from £25 -£45 and last as long as you want them to , you need to have them in filled every 2 weeks this does depend on how fast your own nails grow.
  • Hiya,
I buy stick ons from Boots.
Broadway nails they are called. They have a pink coloured glue with them.
Sooo easy to put on and they do different lengths, flat nails etc. £6.99/£7.99 I think. They last me about a fortnight and I get two sets worth from each pack!
I use these all the time and prefer them to salon acrylics etc. People always comment on how nice my nails are and they think they are salon ones!
You can also buy a remover that you soak your nails in to remove. No damage!

    Thank you Cambridge :D
  • personally I would avoid acrylic or gel, you have to have them re-filled every few weeks and it can work out expensive, I think the boots suggestion was the best one

If your nails are not to bad ie really short, why not just have a manicure with the french polish, they will look longer

interesting, thanks ladies! Is infilling something that I could do myself?

Im considering nipping down to boots though and giving the Broadway ones a try :)

The uni Im at has a beauty salon in it, hadnt considered trying there! May nip in there as well friday morning and just get a price :)

No, unless you are trained you wont be able to do the infills yourself. I did train myself to do it though, but thats after years of having them done myself and watching!

If youre just going away for a few days, i would give the boots set a go that cahttycatchy suggested :)

Hell no way would I advise acrylic or gel, if its just for a special occasion get stick ons.

Sorry to those that love their acrylics (and lovely they look as well ) but I think the damage they do to your real nail just isnt worth it. I had one acrylic put on end of Sept as I ripped the nail off really painfully far down (I have very long real nails). 5 weeks later when I took it off, the original nail is paper thin and flaky :( Its a mess still 3 weeks later. Going to take weeks if not months to get the nail back into condition
  • Yes they do screw up your original nails and it takes ages to grow back. Why don't you just invest in a manicure? A good manicurist can make a huge difference...
  • if you have a salon at uni even better you can normally get half price treatments if your a student, not only on manuicures but the whole beauty range, even get your hair done if your uni has a hair dressing salon

    Good luck for Friday
