Need help clearing my debt

Hi all,

Well - im in debt..I've known it for the past few months but stopped looking at my statements bills...my debt may not be that much compared to some but im still a student and its really worying me...this is what I owe:

Student Account 1 - 2000 OD
Student Account 2 - 1400 OD
Unpaid Store Bills - 400

Im studying full time, but not eligible for student loan anymore because I've already completed by degree and am doing a vocational course...work one day a week part time (earning about 200 pm).and thats it..

What I want to do is just have one small monthly payment which I can make and that way not have the bank etc calling me every month...But what I really need is advice!

Sorry if this is a bit long-winded..but i havent posted on here for ages!

Thanks in advance

You haven't really explained much about your situation. If you are living on £200 I guess you are living with family? How much money do you have left over after paying housekeeping, etc?
  • Sorry - yes im living with family..to be honest after paying phone bill, petrol, travelcard dont have much at all left...what i really want advice on is what is the easiest way to set up one monthly payment to clear my debts..i have a few other sources of income so could probably afford 100 pounds a month - my current OD's are interest free but is it worth taking out a low interest loan to pay them off and then pay off the loan slowly?
  • Could you take an another job? Perhaps evenings?

Don't take out a loan to pay off an interest free overdraft!!
Contact your bank and find out how long the overdraft is interest free. Usually they reduce them gradually.
  • Sign up (if you haven't already) with quidco, topcashback and greasypalm and start piling up the pounds with daily clicks and signing up for bumph that pays!

Don't get a loan - I know how you feel about the 'lower monthly payment' feeling, but honestly it will be a millstone around your neck - and you'll be paying interest for a debt that is currently interest free!

Could you do something like mystery shopping? It takes a little while after signing up to get the work coming through, but then you'll have the chance to do lots of them. The pay isn't a great deal, but it can add up to an extra £100 a month or so once you get going.
