Anyone with solar panels in Lincolnshire?

Options
Decided last year to have solar panels fitted in the next couple of years but a combination of being busy with work and then a long holiday meant I didn't see the announcements about FITs ending so now we're wondering whether to bring forward our plans and try and get them installed before 31st March (a tall order but we might find someone who will)

Quick background: 2 out of 3 house occupants already at home during the day and third set to retire in around 3 years (maybe sooner if we can do it) so most of the electrical items run during the day. House is rural-ish on oil so all cooking is electric. We intend to buy an electric car within the next 2-3 years as well. Have a south facing brick barn the panels can be fitted to for maximum generation.

Anyone in Lincs with solar panels that can give us a recommendation of installers to ring for a quote? Happy for a PM if you'd rather not say who on a public forum.

I am in Lincolnshire and used Redmile energy about 3 years ago, they are based in Oakham i think and did several installs near me and seemed very quick and tidy so i gave them the job, all completed in a few hours and they helped me with the paperwork.
4kWp, South facing, 16 x phono solar panels, Solis inverter, Lincolnshire.
  • I'm in Leicestershire and used Bespoke Renewable Solutions. They were great and I know they will be able to cover Lincs too.

6.3kW system in Loughborough. 15 JASolar 300w panels on main roof SSE (no shading) with 4.2kW Growatt Inverter. 6 JASolar 300w panels on garage roof WSW (some winter shading) with a 1.65kW Growatt Inverter. Running a Nissan Leaf 24kW and considering battery storage :)
  • I am in North Lincs and was more than happy with the company who installed mine. However they ceased trading about a year later when the announcement was made about reduced/withdrawn FIT's. Any reputable local electrical installer should be able to provide them, but not sure about the timing as you have left it a little late!
Try Trent Valley Electrical if you are up by the Humber. They have a good reputation.

  • I'm in Lincolnshire, we used CTS Renewables for our install in December. We were happy with them, they did an online quote before coming out to do a full survey. They also sorted the paperwork for us.
  • Try this thread Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation" and there are several Lincs solar users, some quite new who may be able to offer recent experience. I think it's in Ethical or something like that.

  • Thanks all who responded.

I gave Redmile a ring yesterday and the guy I spoke to didn't think it would be tough to get them in place before FITs ends, as they only take 1-2 days to install, but getting over here to do the survey of the barns when they were so busy was the issue. He went away to talk to a colleague of his and was going to ring me back.

In the meantime, I'm going to get an online quote with CTS Renewables and see what it comes back with.

Just spoke to someone at CTS Renewables who said its MCS registration runs out on Monday so it is not bothering to get it renewed for the sake of a month. If we want to get FITs we'll have to go somewhere else to have the panels fitted.

Phone Bespoke and the guy there is going to do an initial online quote based on google earth and I'm going to email him some pictures over of the barns. He'll then follow it up with a visit early next week to adjust the quote where needed.
