Missed DMP Payment - PayPlan

I missed my DMP payment this month due to various unexpected expenses. I’m just wondering what will happen now?

I’m really scared and anxious that PayPlan will cancel my DMP or creditors will take me to court.

I’ve emailed PayPlan to explain and offered to make a £10 token payment (£1 per creditor), I usually pay £126 a month. Any advice?

My daughter has been on a DMP for a couple of years now (Stepchange) and has moved a couple of times (renting) and had high vet fees in that time. Each time she has just contacted Stepchange and explained the situation then continued the payments next month. She has never had a problem, although of course it does extend the payment period slightly (although she has managed to catch up and should finish the DMP later this year). I think as long as you keep in touch there shouldn't be a problem. I would say that if you find this happens more often then you possibly need to reduce your monthly payments to enable you to put something away for unexpected items.

Yes and Stepchange will accept overpayments too without requiring too many details; they just up the Direct Debit for that month. As long as they're notified in good time they're very accommodating.
Very best wishes for your debt-free journey.
