Child Check Up at NHS Dentist

Evening,
Just after some clarification or similar experiences please.
My daughter is 7, and has been at the same NHS dentist since she was 18 months having a 6 monthly check up every 6 months. Now she had her latest on Friday and it was over in literally 10 seconds, the dentist glanced in her mouth, didn't use a mirror, was dismissive of my question about the fact she hasn't lost 1 baby tooth yet. We were in the room less than 1 minute!
This has been similar every time we've been and I've not really been overly concerned when she was very young but surely you can't carry a thorough check up so quickly with no mirror?!
Thinking of changing her to my own, private dentist, my check up takes around 10 minutes.
Just seems easy money for her dentist currently, makes me wonder how long each appointment lasts and how much them claim back from the NHS for this minute check!
Ideally I wouldn't have to pay £80 a check up for her but I'm concerned any issues will be missed. I'm very "on it" with brushing and never having fizzy pop etc and her teeth look fine to me, but I'm no dentist!
Is this normal for an NHS dentist or have we just got a naff one?
Thank you.
