HMRC App on IOS now links into HRMC website

I have just logged into my personal tax account on the HMRC app on my iPad and it now links into the website for more details.
This appears to enable you to logon to your full personal tax account without using either Gov.uk Verify or the Government Gateway. A simple fingerprint login rather than the secondary SMS for the Verify or Gateway.
It is much easier and I assume no less secure as my fingerprint is unique to me.

Just a heads up on this. The HMRC app and the automated link to my personal tax account via Safari on my iPad appears to be causing problems.
After viewing data on the HMRC Safari link I could not access the HMRC app without resetting my credentials on the app. Definitely appears to be unstable.
This is about par for the course for HMRC IT offerings. (burnt ones perhaps?:))0 -

I have looked at the app again and it now gives the extra details within the app and does not utilise the Safari browser. Hence it does not crash.
It also gives the savings interest estimate for the current year but doesn’t go as far as to give a detailed breakdown.0
