First Direct Mortgage in Principle?

Is there an option to get a decision in principle with First Direct? Can't see on web site just seems to take you to full application which is for my son and not quite ready yet.

Have done an AIP with HSBC but can't find on FD site.

doing multiple DIP's will harm your credit history, is there a particular reason why you want multiple DIP's?

My DIP was done only once on the way to a full mortgage application with the same lender and product using a broker.

The AIP done have all advised there will be no impact on credit file.

Been interesting that from 3 lenders the mortgage potential offer ranges alot from £109k halifax £115k nationwide £126k hsbc all using same figures.

But first direct mortgage rate is just below hsbc on a 5 year fix ltv 53% so was wanting to get an aip as cant start full app as new build may not be completed within 6 months.
  • You will need to check how the AIP will impact your credit file and as a lender that is direct only then you would need to pay a broker a fee no doubt for them to source this.

However if you are happy in what you are doing... The following is taken from their website.

You can apply direct to first direct online without using a broker. There is an option on the web site but no option to get a decision in principle just a full application.

We know we want a 5 year fixed and i have experience in the past on providing morgages so dont need a broker or advice.
