Marriage breakdown and the mortgage

Looking for advice as me and my husband are talking about splitting up. We bought our house a year ago and i put down the deposit plus paid for the renovations from inheritance money. Now we are splitting up he is planning to move out and I will stay in the house with our daughter and pay the mortgage. It is amicable at the moment but I am worried that could change and want to protect myself and ensure security for me and my daughter. I could not afford to buy him out of the property right now as I would not qualify for enough of a loan without his income despite being able to afford the payments, so we plan to leave the mortgage as it is for the moment. Is this a mistake? I am worried that if things change and get nasty he could try to take a share of the house that was actually paid for from my inheritance. No immediate plans for divorce but expect that will come in a year or two and don't want to leave myself open to problems.

Do nothing without seeking advice first. Find yourself a Family Law Solicitor. From a legal perspective the welfare of the children involved is paramount in any decisions made. Anything else is secondary and will follow on from this.0
