    Yes, it's £2k p.a. pension and £6k LS...still a fair bit for a year....

For just one year to make a difference of £2K per annum pension OP's dad must have been on a salary of over £120K.

If he wasn't, then it's a combination of wrong hours and wrong salary.

P.S. - where did you get the breakdown of £6K LS and £2K pension from?
  • Thank you. I will get the full breakdown when they complete their investigation and I'll post them asap.

    He wasn't on a high salary (20ish k).

And a repayment of £8000 is demanded on a pension that has only been in payment for less than a year?

There has been a major error in calculation somewhere along the line.

What has he been receiving by way of monthly pension?

My sister took early retirement/ redundancy from the DVLA and has recently been asked to repay £2000. She is resisting so far until a proper break down is supplied.

Been "in debate" with them for 2 years. They are worse than hopeless. They refuse to tell me what information they gave HMRC as they appeared to have written to them than before me. Good luck and keep at them. I now refuse to deal with them over the phone as I have been "mislead" and I do mean that as a euphemism, so often. You can also ask them for all the information that they hold on your FIL. Complain when they ask you to mail them any documents to resolve their mistake.

    LS is 3x pension, so £8k/4=£2k, £2k pension and £6k LS :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

But not if he went for maximum commutation. £8K still looks too high for less than 12 months and a salary of £20K though.
  • Just to update, we are still waiting on their investigation outcome.

  • Hi folks, I work for a magazine called Civil Service World, and I'm looking into the issue of demands for pension repayments. I've been contacted by a couple of people who've had similar demands from MyCSP and I'm trying to speak to as many people as possible so I can draw some attention to the issue and hopefully get some questions answered.

helpinghand807 or anyone else who's received letters demanding repayments, please drop me a private message if you're interested in speaking to me. I'm happy to talk on the record or keep you anonymous if you prefer.

For some background, a piece we published a couple of years ago on a similar issue led to some people's cases being fast-tracked and resolved (as a new user I can't post links but if you google "Civil service pensions: What's going on at MyCSP?" the special report should come up).

    Thanks all!
