Transfer within civil service

Options
Hi All
I have recently been promoted from AO to EO within the civil service, I was offered a fixed term contract at one SE location and within a week offered a permanent contract at a different SE location but within the same directorate and the same job but obviously different location. It was decided from above that I would complete training at location A before moving to location B. I have completed all training and moved location and as I was already a civil servant I don't have a probation period.
Recently I have been having difficulty with childcare and financial issues as a result of personal issues. My question is as I have been doing training at location A and only recently moved to location B will a transfer request be allowed under these grounds as I have only been in location B for 3 weeks but have been doing the job for 5 1/2 months at location A at the decision of senior officers. Would this be held against me as there is surprisingly little guidance on this.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The short answer is, like any other employment.

There are not obliged to accommodate your personal life.

You can request a transfer back, but you cannot force this. You in essence want the security of a Perm Contract, but at the location of the FTC.

You've not been there long enough to gain full employment rights; so if you cause too much bother it may be easier to simply let you go

I have been employed within the civil service for 4 years continuously. Only promoted 5 1/2 months ago

The issue I have is that even though I have been in role for nearly 6 months I have been in this location for 3 weeks. Would this affect a request as it was the decision of senior officers to delay my move to this location.

As comms69 said, you can request a move back but the employer doesn't have to agree to it. Somebody else may already have replaced you at location A so there might not be a vacancy to return to. The only people who can give an answer are the management teams a the two locations.

As others have said, you can request but it will depend on the grade requirements of both offices concerned. If it is difficult to fill EO vacancies at the current office, you will struggle to get them to release you.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
