Change to departure

Options
Hi,

On March 2nd, Transport for Wales are now doing engineering works. My train to Manchester was due to depart at 18:06.

They have put on a bus to Cardiff, which leaves at 17:06 - 1 hour earlier.

This is no good to me as I am there to watch the football.

What are my rights, surely they must pay for a taxi to Cardiff, the bus should take 1 hour, which could leave as late as 17:45 - but this replacement bus is going to take almost 2 hours.

Is a full refund the only option?
Regards

Mark

Timing for the previous Saturday is Swansea 1754, Manchester 2118
On both Saturdays the train leaves Cardiff at 1850

    1806 Swansea (bus)
    1911 Cardiff (bus)

    2010 Cardiff
    2349 Manchester

(or you can leave Cardiff at 1926 and arrive Manchester 2329 changing at Bristol Parkway and Birmingham New St IF your ticket is valid on that routing)

  • Thanks, no good for me as I need to get back to Huddersfield. Will have to just get a refund. I can't believe they are allowed to change the departure by over an hour. Surely they are duty bound to pay for a taxi to Cardiff

Taxis only really happen when things go wrong on the day and people are going to be stranded overnight. There's no way they'll agree to pay for your taxi when they're giving you two weeks' notice of the change.
  • Thought not, absolute joke, no point in booking early when they can change it so late in the day and not even bother to tell you.
