Soft drinks without sweeteners

I love Fentiman's soft drinks. They don't contain any nasties and have a really old-fashioned flavour. They even come in proper glass bottles like pop should! Not cheap, but every now and again for a treat won't be anymore expensive than alcohol. I love the dandelion and burdock and the ginger beer which is very gingery. I tried the lemonade once but it was also gingery, so a bit of a disappointment if you're looking for lemony lemonade (maybe I just had an odd one
). For this I recommend Sainsbury's own 'traditional' lemonade (about 40p for a 2 litre bottle, and last time I looked contained no aspartame). I haven't tried Fentiman's cola or Seville orange jigger yet. You can get them in supermarkets (my Tesco has a better range than Sainsbury's) and in smaller shops such as health shops. You can also buy online, which I am considering doing to stock up for Christmas.

I would love to drink nothing but pure fruit juice but it costs a packet and I would get through litres of the stuff during summer. The problem is that the majority of the public are blissfully unaware of the dangers of aspartame/sucralose (regardless of what the companies selling this crap tell you). We need to make the facts well known and tell all these food and drinks companies that WE WANT A CHOICE! Anybody wishing to start a campaign - I am behind you 100%.0

Some nice ideas here, but I think maybe drinking fruit juice once a day is enough, because of the fruit sugar, and acid effect on teeth. I often make up a bottle of flavoured tea and drink it cold out of fridge. I like red bush , and also spicy ginger.0

I have a bit of an obsession with 'Teisseire passion fruit le sirop', which comes in a strange green tin bottle. You can get it from Sainsburys or Waitrose for £3 a bottle (often £2.50 special offer). Not cheap, but only a very small amount is needed diluted with water. It's like nectar it's so good... :-)0

Whole Earth do a range of fizzy drinks in cans which are naturally sweetened with agave syrup. http://wholeearthfoods.com
I like a number of the Fentimans drinks. These are more distinctively flavoured, and you may or may not like the flavours. You can check the ingredients here. https://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/frameset/detail/533699_Fentimans_Cherrytree_Cola_275ml.html
I'm the opposite of you, and typically drink artificially sweetened drinks, a change I made when I decided I needed to keep my weight down some years ago. I drink the above (and other speciality drinks) when out, at pubs, or other special occasions.0 -
How about iced water flavoured with natural fruit. I have a couple of water filter jugs which I keep in the fridge - one contains slices of orange and the other, slices of lemon. Delicious, refreshing, and each glass contains just a trace of only natural sugar.0

Just saying :hello: to Bogof_Babe 10 years after she started the thread and wondering what soft drinks she's drinking now.
I've recently cut down on my alcohol consumption and seem to spend hours in the supermarket reading the back of 'pop' bottles.0 -

What exactly are these dangers of Aspartame et al? Scare stories about Aspartame have been around since the mid-'80s when it was introduced. I remember reading them in Today newspaper back then. Anecdotes that they are carcinogenic or turn you blind. Surely after 30 years of mainstream consumption, such issues would have been noticed by now.
If you want to avoid them, simply have sparkling water with freshly-squeezed fruit juice. (Just be aware that excessive fruit consumption might lead to Type 2 Diabetes..)0 -
Asda sells Bigga Pineapple, Grape and Fruit Punch soft drinks that have no artificial sweeteners. They are in the World Foods aisle or you can order them online.0

An old favourite that I discovered on Weight watcher's years ago - soda and Angostura. A bottle of Angostura is quite expensive (around £10.00 the last time I bought one) and has a small amount of alcohol, but you only use 3-4 drops in a glass so it lasts forever.
