Does anyone want to join me?
I'm new to MSE Forum's and after searching many other posts, I thought I'd start a new thread to allow me to share my experience so far, see if anyone else is in a similar position and hopefully make some cyber friends along the way
My situation is this:
Myself and my OH are both first time buyers, using the help to buy equity loan scheme.
We reserved our plot (due for completion end of May) on 9th Feb.
Used the developer's recommended Mortgage Advisor and passed affordability and credit check on 3rd Feb (we had to have this before we were allowed to reserve).
Help to buy application (PIF) was submitted via developer on 12th Feb.
We have our appointment to apply for our mortgage today at 5pm - likely to apply with Halifax.
Is anyone else in a similar position and wanting to share their journey?

Good luck.
Please make sure you are given all the right information to make informed decision. Mortgage advisors associated with estate agent or home buyers don't always have your best interest at heart..0 -
Why are you buying a new build?"Everything comes to him who hustles while he waits" Thomas Edison
Following the Martin mantra "Earn more, have less debt, improve credit worthiness" :money:0 -
Thank you xyz123 - we did lots of research and gathered so much information before we made our final decision
Unicorn Cottage - we wanted to benefit from using the Help to Buy scheme which is only available on new build properties. We did lots of looking and decided it was the best option for us as we wanted a relatively low maintenance house.0 -
Why are you using the developer's own Mortgage advisor?? I hope they have the best deal for you and not just more commission for them.
I wouldn't advise using any further services offered by them such as solicitors or surveyors"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Hiya!
Me and my partner are also FTB.
We received an AIP from Halifax on 25 Jan, viewed a new build house 5 Feb and reserved it the next day.
Our advisor applied for the mortgage on 8 Feb and the house is due to be valued next week.
Very exciting but nervous times!0 -
