Mortgage Offer for wrong address because of Post Office

Hi, I am after a bit of advice. I am currently in the process of taking a remortgage out on my home for some improvements and debt consolidation. I am not asking for much at all, just a small amount. I went to Nationwide, my current mortgage lender but they said as I have not tried to pay off my credit card in the past several years they were not willing to let me take a remortgage out of £20k. I was shocked, considering my house is worth £190k and I only owe £21k on my mortgage.

Therefore I went to Barclays who were more than willing to offer me what I wanted. Here is the problem, my mortgage offer came through with the wrong address on. The deeds to my house say we live in Ormskirk, West Lanc, L39, but the post office and every insurance company has the address as Kirkby, Liverpool, L33. I have contacted the post office and the response I got was basically the Royal Mail were not willing to change their records because it would cost them 1000's of pounds to change mine and my 2 neighbours address. I pay my council tax to West Lancs and they are the ones that empty my bins, they use the right address that is on my deeds.

All my insurances house, car are all higher because I have to use the L33 postcode, because their systems only recognise this, I had to register with a Dr 6 miles away in Kirkby because the one up the road from me says my address is L33 and I am out of the a catchment area.

I explained all this to the mortgage advisor and she said she did not see a problem. But then put the wrong address on the offer, the solicitor has also said I am not the deed holder because of the L33 wrong address. I went on the land registry and paid for the deeds and I am on them with the L39 address.

My question is is there anything I can do to get the post office to sort my address out. This is very frustrating. Now I am worried about my mortgage offer being refused because of this.

Thanks in advance.

Generally the Royal Mail address database dictates what the "correct" address is. The solicitors ought to be able to figure out that the title deeds are for the same property (there's not strictly any need for the deeds to have a postal address on them at all) and if not then I expect it can be sorted with the Land Registry.

Start by getting the right company.
    Post Office: state run organisation
    Royal Mail: private firm

    They are not interchangeable terms
