My flatmate has left the top of the cooker in a disgusting mess, and I just can't stand it any more ... can anyone recommend an OS method of cleaning it? I think it is burnt-on cream, so basically caramelised ...

I use a combination of stardrops and white vinegar (with a little bit of water to make it go further) on the cooker. this gets the worst of it off. Spray and give it 10 minutes to work, then scrub. that gets my sometimes really "minging" cooker (as Aggie and Kim would say) clean..
Other than that, i don't know. HTH,

Id put on a bit of cream cleaner. Rub in with a wet cloth, and leave for 1/2 hour. You may need to repeat, but it should come off.

I'd strop at the flatmate and tell her to clean it or I'll be cleaning it with his/her best top!!!
If you leave cream long enough it peels off.. like paint.. *shame*LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
You could try putting some boiling water on the top and leave to soak - sometimes works for me if things are a little burnt on. Mop up and follow with either cream cleaner (as already mentioned), or try mixing washing up liquid with bicarb to make a thick paste (Kim and Aggie used this once to clean a really bad oven door). Apply, then use plenty of elbow grease to shift the stains.

I used washing powder mixed with water and left it for a while on my sons minging oven. I think I saw kim n aggie wipe a smear of baby oil on the hob to shine it up too.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

and pull yourself together”

Do so hate it when people are so inconsiderate. Can you not point it out to her? I make my own cleaning solution with white vinegar, bicarb, a drop of W up liquid and hot water. Also have lavender and teatree in there. You could spray and leave for 10 minutes. Paste of bicarb also works well, you could mix it with some borax to make a paste and scrub. Personally, I think she should do it, it's so rude!
