  • Hi,

It is good that you are working with StepChange :)

If you have already contacted them (UncleBuck), asking them to freeze interest and charges while you seek professional advice, then I would not pay them a penny until the DMP is officially up and running.

    Hi,

They are well able to put your account on hold, they are just been pedantic.

You need to stop fretting over things like that, you must remove the payday loan companies ability to debt your account, that usually entails cancelling the constant payment authority they have on your debt card, with your bank.

Don’t worry about a few charges, you should treat all your unsecured creditors the same, so stop paying all of them, tell them your seeking advice from stepchange, save up a good emergency fund, and wait till stepchange spring into action.

Then do as advised above, and just take them out of the equation, they are notoriously hard to deal with uncle buck.
They can do anything they like, they are just been awkward.

  • @ spompam - And besides, you can complain to UncleBuck about any (unfair) interest or charges after the DMP has officially begun.

Without being too nosy, can i ask why you're keep everything to yourself and not tell your partner? Where has the advance gone from these payday loans? all of them are due at the end of the month, so i'm presuming they are all new or all rolled over? have you taken payday loans to gamble, or buy expensive gifts?

The reason for asking is because i use to be in the exact same boat as it seems you are (i still have horrendous debt, but i'm now finally dealing with it) but i use to keep things quite and run up payday loan after payday loan. It will eat away at you, and you will start to stress which i think you already have from your previous post and posting twice on the forums here the same question.

No one judges here, but you will get a lot more advice and help the more you can tell people, and the reasons behind them.

A problem shared, is a problem solved.

On to some advice, i was on a DMP about 15 years ago. STOP paying EVERYTHING that is unsecured, until the DMP is up and running. Use this time to save an emergency fund. Get the payment authority thing cancelled. I found the best way to do this is to contact the bank and just cancel your card, and request a new ATM card. Only a ATM card that is, NOT a debit card! This will also help you stop taking out payday loans. Failing that open a new basic bank account, for your wages / benefit payments.

and above all else DON'T WORRY :D

WoW! :( That is a lot to take in and some very unfortunate luck :( Ever so sorry for the lose of your Father :(

You should really talk to your partner though about the whole situation, or if you really do not want to talk to her for whatever reason then talk to someone else. You have already mentioned Mental Health, and I applaud you so much for saying that as a lot of people do not like to talk about it. Just talking about things helps A LOT.

For now stop worrying about if you should pay the loans back or not, if you're going on a DMP that will sort itself. For now i want you to talk to someone, either your partner, a doctor, your pet Dog anyone to get things of your chest.
