Recently I asked my bank to convert some of my credit cards debts into a loan.
Endured the process and got told “No” - on affordability grounds.
The calculation had offered me fourteen thousand pounds over a few years, and the monthly payment was the same as one of my credit cards.
With that money, I could have cleared 3 cards and saved the interest, yet no, they prefer me to pay my instalments and “stand still”.
When asked how they made this judgement - was advised that if I hadn’t put that money to offset my cards, I couldn’t afford to pay that loan as well..
I agree, yet was intending to pay my cards... any thoughts welcome.

The lender can't guarantee that you will use the loan to clear the cards. Usual decision for some lenders. Post an SOA on the Debt Free Wannabee board for help bringing your card payments down without taking out a loan.
