I was given a tassimo coffee machine for Christmas by my parents. I was a bit dubious about it but grown to love it. My concern with it is the cost of the pods and the plastic waste that comes from them.
Are there reusable pods available for the machine? I believe it needs a barcode as the pods have a barcode that the machine reads to know what drink it is making.

Checkout you tube and you see how to refill the pods. Myself, I just buy them 20 boxes at a time when they're on offerIf I ruled the world.......0

There are some videos on YouTube that show you how and some discs available on Amazon.
I must admit I didn't replace my Tassimo when it broke as you had to buy Tassimo, it was replaced by a Nespresso as you can buy the pods from Aldi and other places meaning a lot more choice. I too am concerned at all the waste plastic so may save up for a bean to cup machine for when this gives up the ghost.0 -
Coffee pods are now a massive recycling problem and I can't see the convenience being replaced, but the companies could start making them out of recyclable materialsIf I ruled the world.......0

That's helpful if you can't stand drinking tea.0 -
We have a nespresso, but we use one of those metal pods that we refill.0

There is a guide at myvirtualcoffeehouse.com of how to refill your old Tassimo Pods, but they recommend buying them smartly (in bulk) to reduce cost.
Honestly, pod machines are not cheap long term, just cheap to buy initially. My kids love them though.0 -
Recycling plastic isn't the answer though.
Invest in a nespresso and reusable pods. get your beans from a coffee roaster (Rave, Hasbeans, Redber), and a half decent turkish brass style grinder - you need a fairly fine grind.

Or just get a cafetière. So much cheaper and just as nice of you get decent quality coffee.0
