    Mr S, does your elderly relative have a good fishmongers nearby? The cost can often be less that you'd think, and the freshness and quality will be second to none - you just can't compare with supermarket fish, fresh or frozen.

    A proper fishmonger may be willing to put together a small portion-size of mixed fish (assuming your relative is cooking for one) which would be reasonably priced.
