Mulchy Murph's Marvellous Musings

Hello all!

I am Murph and I have some debt, a mortgage and an allotment (hence the 'mulchy' bit)

I’m keeping this diary as a way of documenting how I go at becoming debt free and mortgage free (or at least as reduced as possible!).

I have recently bought a little bungalow. Mortgage is high as I wanted it at short as possible, however I have already added a monthly over payment of £100 per month 😊
The bungalow needs a fair bit of work and I have a little cash that I am saving for building work to be done next year.
I am considering putting the savings into a savings account to earn interest (it’s just in my current account at the moment).

I have a credit card which I have just transferred to 0% for 29 months (yay) and the monthly amount to pay it off is manageable.

I also have a loan which is manageable with a long time left on it. Would like to get this down also.

Planning on growing as much food as possible on my allotment this year and filling up the freezer / preserving as much as possible.
That’s me… oh, and I’m a girl, and a mummy and I’m 40 😊

Hello! :j

  • Morning all!
    Update from me....
0% Credit Card is up and running
    Old Credit Card closed.
Over payment amount on my loan is decided on (an over payment of £50 per month)
British Gas (new Boiler) is 0% and up and running too.
All loans / cards etc are all sorted and are costing £400 per month.

Mortgage over payment of £100 per month has been arranged too!

Phew! I feel like it all in order!

Next is to scrutinise my bills.
I've just moved into a new property (hence new boiler) and I'm keen to use the cheapest energy I can.
After that I'll look at daily spending and chucking a tonne of stuff on eBay.

    Feel like I'm getting there!
    Have a good day, all.

  • Congratulations on the diary, love the title!
  • Morning all!
So, that new boiler I talked about? Gas leak!!!
We were completely cut off last night so were a little chilly! fortunately we have an electric shower, so one hot shower and a hot water bottle later and we were toasty warm and in bed early!

So, BG are coming over today to make it right. We had everything removed and a whole new system put in, only 2 and a half weeks ago, so there should be no reason for the leak.
It cost me a small fortune and they advised that there was a leak on my old (inherited) gas cooker, so I replaced that too (and that's not cheap).
If I get told that there was nothing wrong with the old cooker and it was the old pipe that was leaking, I'll be letting BG know that they owe me the cost of a new cooker!!!

So I've come into work early and then will head home to await their arrival later.

Whilst I'm home I may look at getting a few bits and bobs on eBay / Marketplace.

    Have a good day all,
