Hi,
Just need a bit of advice, offer excepted on a house and visit with halifax mortgage advisor and mortgage given, house survey carried out and rang them today they have said it was completed but it now has to goto the underwriters, is this normal and is the mortgage application that is going to the underwriters and is this just to claify everything. They could not say why it was going to the underwriters just that it was probably a formalilty, should i be worrying?

Just a formality. Once everything has been checked, references and survey etc, the case goes to the underwriters. Totally normal practice I assure you.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Depends on which lenders underwriters you're talking about where2start. If they're Woolwich ones you'll probably have grey hairs growing out your ears and nose before you see any sign of an offer. Most other lenders are OK but service can be patchy from any lender at times. Unfortunately it's one of those how long is a piece of string questions. The answer is invariably it takes as long as it takes !
