So you just hope to God you're not one of the "unlucky" ones and you have enough time to save up all the premiums you don't pay to get enough together to cover 10, 20, 30 years mortgage payments, Sky subs, energy bills and so on?

If you can do that, great. Then you'll be fit & healthy and have loads of extra money when you retire.

All the things I thought when I was 25 and then 35 and then 36 when I unexpectedly became a father...

... then 46 when I was taken ill!

God isnt involved in statistics. I hope to the odds.:D

Ive got various insurances that are personalised to my needs and levels of risk. I dont think a one stop solution fits very well with the idea of managing risks. Its a good insurance to take if you want some peace of mind and dont want to put any effort in to thinking about risks, im quite sad though and i do so think i can get a better outcome by tailoring insurances to suit me specifically.

Im not against insurances, far from it, i just dont think theyre limited to paying someone £xxx amount a month for covering what are ultimately a limited set of circumstances. I think you need comprehensive insurance and by that i mean insurance that covers any circumstances you see fit and its rare that will be limited to income protection. And again thats not me saying its a bad product or anything like that, i just dont think its suitable for me.
