Some gift help

I know many of you lovely folks have children so I am after some help in choosing Christmas gifts for my step-brothers kids (as he isn't much help!). I am buying a smallish gift (£15 ish) for a 9-year old girl and a 13 year old boy so they are difficult ages in terms of buying the 'wrong thing'.
Is there a particular girlie craze that would appeal to a 9 year old without being to young? The boy is a little easier as he likes skateboarding and rock music, both of which I know a fair bit about but if anyone knows of any particularly nice things I would love some inspiration!
Thanks in advance

here there are great things, hope you find something0 -
'Grown up' craft things would probably be popular with the girl - jewellery making, albums/diaries etc. At that age, there's still a fair chance dolls are around - Bratz, Barbie etc, or as said HSM seems to be the big thing this year (not seen it myself having three small boys).
For the boy - if you can be reasonably sure he doesn't already have them, then something like an MP3 player (you can get basic ones for a fiver) with a download voucher, or a computer game, might do. Or if he's sporty, a voucher for a nearby sports shop (towards the latest football kit etc), or something from his team shop.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

how about a very small gift cd or cuddly with a cinima or swimming voucher for 2 so they could take a freind of their choice for a fun afternoon. Some of the best lessons we ever learn,we learn from our mistakes and failures.the error of the past is the success and wisdom of the future. :j0

My niece is a fairly grown-up 8 year old, and has asked for hama beads, other craft stuff (have got a make-yr-own snowglobe from boots), make-up/bath bombs etc and hair clips or bobbles. We've also got her a Cella sticker maker thingie. I know she'd like a Next gift card too as she likes to be all grown up and choose her own clothes.0
