Barclays mortgage FTB 2019

Options
Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has applied for a mortgage with Barclays recently and can share their experience. Here is my story:

FTB sole application 83% LTV
I have a couple of arrears in the past 12 months which worry me but clear for the past 6 months
Excellent credit score on Experian but only 2/5 on Noddle (Call credit) which is the one Barclays checked.
Accepted in principle on 01.02.2019
Full application submitted through broker on 04.02.2019
Valuation booked on 05.02.2019
Valuation took place on 07.02.2019

And now waiting... I find it so hard and stressful which is why I'd love to hear about similar (or not) stories that happened recently.
So far Barclays only did one soft credit check when we did the DIP and no hard check since... Is it normal?
Please keep me company in the wait or share your experience I just can't sit doing nothing!!

Thanks

    Are you applying direct?
Considering you’ve had arrears in the last year you would be better off with a broker. If you get declined don’t give up though.

Just noticed that you’re using a broker. They know what they are doing so just trust them.
  • My broker advised against Barclays given they're taking many weeks to get through applications.
  • Oooooh how long are they taking? I’m going for a Help to Buy equity loan but not exchanging until end March with estimated build completion August/September so playing a bit of a game to maximise my offer length seeing as it could expire if build is delayed
  • Assuming all your documents are in you have plenty enough time to exchange March Jojo

So far they have been quite quick, they booked the valuation the day after we applied and now they are asking for my payslips and bank statements but my broker is on holiday until Wednesday... So hard to just wait!!!
Is it normal they still haven't done a hard check??
And is it a good sign if they ask for these documents??
  • I applied at the beginning of January after a DiP and had a mortgage offer within 2 weeks (12 days in total waiting). The offer was issued about 2/3 days after the valuation.

Thanks for replying, sounds very good!
My broker is now telling me that the house was valued at £0 because it's currently a HMO and therefore unsuitable for a family. I don't understand why they would say that... I mean the living room and dining room are currently bedrooms but we are planning to break the wall to make it a big dining/living room! Maybe broker had to specify it on the mortgage application?? I'm completely lost...
