Tax code question

As for where the original totals came from (you mentioned early on in that post) - it was from her bank statement. I just totalled up all the payments in for each benefit.
AFAIK the pension payments are consistent but her wages aren't as consistent.
So you would suggest that she gets back in touch with HMRC then (and not her pension payer / employer)?
I'm personally not a fan of them (bad/incorrect advice in the past) but out of interest would getting in touch with Citizens Advice and having a one-to-one chat with someone about it be of use in your opinion?0 -
It is pointless speaking to the pension payer or employer. They cannot change anything and if anything involving them will only complicate things further.
Speak to Citizens Advice if you want but I don't see what you will achieve by doing this.
A better option might be for your mum to phone HMRC when you are present and then pass the phone to you for you to speak to them.
But before doing that you need to check there is nothing your mum hasn't told you about and also work out what the expected income is going to be for the current tax year. The pension seems straightforward, the job is the trickier one. She needs to get the figures from her latest payslip and then think about what she will earn in February and March to get as accurate a figure as possible for the current tax year.0
