Universal credit and applying for a mortgage

Options
Does anyone have any information or experience in applying for a mortgage whilst on the new universal credit system?

I work full time and earn a reasonable wage, my partner works part time because we have a 19 month old daughter. We have High childcare costs as we have no family near by to help (£650 p/m).

We are in the process of applying for a mortgage through Scottish government LIFT scheme, have had an AIP and an offer accepted on a flat. But after finding a guardian article on UC and mortgages I am worried we will be knocked back.

Any information would be great.

Thanks
Mark

Some lenders just do not include the universal credits in the affordability calculation, your best bet would be to get a mortgage broker who can advise you on which lenders are suitable - some of the biggest brokers are completely free to you so it’s worth getting some advice
