New job offer, short term layoffs clause

hi all,
I've been offered a fantastic new senior position, will massively grow my skills and provide good increase in salary.
Have got the contract through and it has a clause about short term layoffs. I've read up about them as have never had one of these clauses in my contract before and frankly - considering we are on the cusp of what could be some very unusual national circumstances... is it remotely ok to take a job with this clause in?
Thank you in advance for what is hopefully reassurance...

I've been with my current employer for nearly 20 years, and this clause has been introduced, probably on advice from our HR consultants. I'd be gobsmacked if we ever had to implement it, but it very much depends on the line of work you'd be in: if the company is dependent on contracts or materials to keep going, a sensible employer will put it in, IMO.Signature removed for peace of mind0
