A friends mortgage payment is due on 1st of each month. It is with Halifax. She pays cash and sometimes the payments are made in branch upto a fortnight late but she says it has never affected her credit file. Does a mortgage only become late if it is paid after the next due date?
Thanks

Normally paid in the same month keeps the credit file intact.I am a Mortgage Broker

If she has some overpayments on the account then this could 'tide things over' till she manually pays late.
Mortgage payments are usually late if not paid in full by the due date I think.0 -
No. It becomes late after the due date.
How or when the lender chooses to treat it depends on the policy.0 -

Never accept financial guidance off a well meaning friend unless they are qualified to give the advice. Late is after the due date although I accept some lenders may be slower to report late payments, missed payments will almost always be reported without exception.I am a Mortgage Adviser
