Shared Equity - solicitor required?

Hello all,

I'm about to settle a shared equity loan that is secured on my house. I have the funds secured through additional borrowing with my current mortgage provider and the debt management company have signed off everything they need to (valuation etc.).

However, I've been told that I need a solicitor to complete the transfer of funds and update the Title Deeds - does anyone know if this is something I can do myself in order to save on the solicitors fees please?

Any help with this appreciated.

Ian.

    Not normally, no.

Someone has to have the title and the charges changed and a mortgage lender will not normally trust that to the applicant.
