The dispensing assistant checks for my PD. The optician does not do it during the sight test.

The prescription should be given at the time. if not ask for it then. the optician is available to sign it.

I was not given the prescription after the test, though the optician was of course in the shop when it was passed to the staff. I have subsequently asked for it in person, they prevaricated. I’ve sent emails, and got no response. They had absolutely no problem getting a copy of my previous one from a nearby opticians.

I can see why people buy online, it’s usually much cheaper, and the service is just as ‘good’. Unfortunately the frames I chose needed to be bought in a shop.

They dispensed glasses without a signed prescription?

Why did you pay before getting the prescription?

When I had the eye test I wasn’t aware that they were legally obliged to give me a copy of the prescription. I have since found that out, and I have repeatedly asked for it and been rebuffed or ignored. I’ve had numerous eye tests over the years and the only opticians that have given me the prescription has been SpecSavers. Ironic really since they are the budget shop.

Well, yes they do in a way as the optician has to know the PD to set the trial frame and other equipment correctly. They may not write it down as it is not part of the prescription or, being more cynical, to try and frustrate patients buying online.

The OP has asked them for a prescription repeatedly and is being ignored.
