Hearing aid batteries

My dear old (and deaf) mum is clearing out 'stuff' during which she's come across a small quantity of NHS issued hearing aid batteries with an expiry date of October 2019.
She no longer wears the hearing aids as they don't help. Would the audiology department accept the batteries back? I know that it may depend on a number of things, however I hope some guidance could be offered in general.
Thanks.

I think some Specsavers recycle old hearing aid batteries, so you could always call and see if they will take them?0

Thanks.
I'm taking all the out of date ones to our local recycling centre, just hoped that perhaps I could return the in date ones. I'll phone the hospital tomorrow.0 -
I would expect most charity shops would accept in date / in pack ones for resale as donated goods.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Thanks, will give that a try too though I wonder if they will sell. Hearing aid batteries are free from audiology departments and these are stamped 'free tissue'.0 -
Put them on Freecycle. Also, just because they are "out of date" doesn't mean they won't work.0
