    Not helpful, in the circumstances.

No - but allowing for arrears, eviction notice, possibly best not to rock the boat for the time being. Once the arrears are dealt with Catandy that's one to tackle.

You're welcome - I know some of this seems a bit blunt - it's meant to though as we really want to see you work this out. usually black (or red!) and white and cold hard facts are the best way of getting the message across.

Think through absolutely everything. From here on everything you do has a financial impact - whether that's turning the heater up a bit (don't, put a jumper on, fetch a blanket, OH puts a hat on, yes, indoors!) or making sure you have a shower before 7am or after midnight when it's cheaper if you have an electric shower. You HAVE to break away from using credit - you know from past experience that this isn't a good way to live. OH HAS to contribute - whether that is through benefits or via earning small amounts matters not - but you need more income than you have, currently.

Let us know how you go with reviewing things!

all point duly noted and appreciated - and yes being straight is just what I need at the moment. time to get my head down and get on with it :)
  • Just wanted to say Hi and good luck. In the meantime is there anything you can sell or put on ebay etc to deal with the arrears?

I appreciate your OH may struggle now with his health but maybe even after he recovers from his surgery a job like cleaning could work for him if he doesn't like computers? You said he had been a gardener so this would be maybe suitable and indoors?

I think your SOA is what you want to spend not what you do spend, as you talk about things like not spending the £25 on clothes, and it isn't clear where your £100 "surplus" has gone - and you have no money coming in until you get paid in your new job. Have a good look at what you have really been spending to see how accurate it is.

You said going bankrupt isn't an option - have you considered why not? You rent, so no issues with a mortgaged house. It might be better for you or your husband to consider bankruptcy or an IVA?
