Removing ex wife

My wife and I are divorced since 2014. She moved out in 2012 and continued to pay half the mortgage ever since. We have now resolved the division of the house.
My mortgage proposal has been accepted.
My solicitor contacted me to to say they need to draw up various paperwork which will cost approx £500. Once this has beeen done the bank will release the money to them. My solicitor also said while she is a family lawyer the legal division will deal with the land registry and title deed transfer which will cost a lot more than £500 ... Can I do this my self and not use a solicitor . I’m pretty broke after stumping up the money to pay my ex wife off
Many thanks in advance

Your lender will require you to use a solicitor, to make sure everything is done correctly, so it's not something you can do yourself if you have a mortgageEarly retired - 18th December 2014

As posted and in my experience your lender is very likely to insist on your using a solicitor

Or to be exact, the lender will insist on instructing a solicitor, and you'll need to pay their fees. Whether you want the solicitor also to act for you is up to you, but it's hardly going to save any money to represent yourself in the process.Land_Registry wrote: »your lender is very likely to insist on your using a solicitor0
