Armed Forces Preserved Pension

Hello, I was medically discharged from the RAF in 1995 with Asthma after 7 years service. I was awarded a preserved Terminal Grant and Pension to be paid when I am 60. Never given it much thought until recently and all searches I have done in relation to the pension scheme I was on (AFPS 75) seem to indicate I should have received an immediate pension.
Anybody with knowledge of the AFPS 75 scheme who can advise or can point me in the right direction for advice. Thanks.

There's a fine line between being discharged on medical grounds without immediate access to benefits and being discharged under Tier 1 (unfit for Armed Forces service but capable of work in Civvy Street) which does give immediate access.

I would start with the experts - the Royal British Legion - who will be able to talk you through the appeals procedure, if they feel that you meet the criteria.
