On-Line will service

Not sure if this is the right place - not for me personally but has anyone used a simple online will writing service recently? Any feedback?

    Avoid.

Find a good local Solicitor. (Recommended by friends, family or work colleagues, ideally).

One who is a STEP member if you have a fairly large or complicated estate and may need IHT planning.

It is for someone who is single, does not own property or significant assets, has very modest savings, no dependents so relatively simple?

    It isn't. Try here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=217

Also, recent experience not much use unless the recipient snuffed it shortly thereafter. :D
The key issue isn't writing a will, it's how the resultant will works after death.
