What is Non Coded Income ?

I have just checked my Tax codes on line and have discovered that I apparently have £3,434 of Non Coded Income.
I have tried phoning the tax office but no one will pick up as they are very busy.


I can't think where this random number might have come from.
It's not interest from savings as there is another amount covered by this.
Any thoughts?

Taxable income, the tax on which will not be collected by an adjustment of your PAYE code.

I wonder if this could be for carers allowance.


I was getting CA allowance last tax year and a few days into this new tax year. I'm no longer claiming it since my lovely mum died.


I can't think of anything else.

It probably is the Carers Allowance. I get State Pension and that is correctly described as State Pension in my coding but I imagine that far more taxpayers receive the OAP as CA.
As you say the Carers Allowance has stopped you need to get in touch with HMRC anyway. If you tried phoning today you probably picked the worst possible day for that because it is deadline day for Self Assessment Returns. Try another day and early in the morning. Just before they officially open at 8.00 seems to be the best and don't forget Saturday. Lots of people assume they are shut.

Which really confrms that it won't be non coded income.
