Full credit report best option

Ignore this question-see below for updated query about default dates and active accounts.

So I’ve used the credit club to see my report. My score has gone down despite paying off more debts so I want to check my full report.
Is Experian expert (30day free trial) the best option, is it easy to cancel during that time?
Or is there a better way? I want to also check the default dates to work out when they’ll drop off my record.

You are not using MSE Credit Club correctly. You can see your full credit report via MSE Credit Club. Don't pay for Experian CreditExpert!!!

Edit: You access the report on MSE Credit Club by selecting the 'Credit Report' button (next to the 'Dashboard' button)

  • Ah thank you!! I think I knew that in the back of my mind as I’ve checked it before, must have had a brain freeze!!
Right having looked what does it mean when it says current status:default/closed
Does that mean it’s dropped off my record?? Most of them say that. I o my have one that says Current status:Up to date. Does that mean it hasn’t defaulted?? It was barclaycard now with Link...surely if it’s been passed to link there would have been a default or am I getting confused gain!

This might be a silly question, but why does it matter what your "score" is?

It’s not so much my score but I was trying to work out when the defaults dates were to try and work out which to partially settle and if there were some that were better to pay in full butnots not very clear on the report when the defualt dates were if anyone can help with that?
  • An example of one says:

    Account: PRA group
    Account started: 06/07/2009
    Current status: defaulted/ended
    Balance: £2453 in use
    Account settled: 30/06/2016

What does that all mean??? We are still paying PRA through our dmp and they have rejected a partial settlement, we have sent a CCA request (avaiating reply) if we agree a partial settlement with it stay on our file/Will is go straight to closed with no note about it being partially or fully settled? Or will the 6yrs start from when we settle?!? Sorry I’m more confused now!
  • The six years starts from the date of default.

There should be an "expand" button on the selected account that reveals additional info when you click on it

Thanks, I can’t see anything even clicking more detail or what’s this? That tells me when the defualt date is. I can scroll down the timeline and see what the amounts were and the status but not what date it was defaulted and passed on.
  • Is the file marked as 'D' for each month? It could be that the original creditor defaulted the account in DD/MM/YYYY and then sold the account to PRA. In that case, I believe the default date should remain the same as when it was originally defaulted. Either way, the account should be removed from your credit report six years from the date of default. Maybe PRA are incorrectly recording the account. If it were me, I would contact PRA and see what they say.

Yes it seems to be marked as default each month going back about 2yrs which would roughly be the time they took it over but I can’t scroll back before then so not sure of exact date, guess I’ll have to go back through the letters for each one and try to establish default dates, frustrating it’s not clear on the report.
