Charity Shop CD and DVD purchases

I am of 'mature' years and find bending down to see the bottom shelves in any shop tricky these days and I cannot help but notice that almost all charity shops seem to put their CD and DVD collection low down or actually on the floor. Not all of them are obscure titles and artists, some items are relatively modern and popular and in good condition. I would love to rummage through them all at times but because of their position I cannot do so. I did comment on this in one charity shop not so long ago. Has anyone else had this difficulty? Are there any MSE people who could perhaps make some suggestions about this to charity shop managers and volunteers? Perhaps more of the bulkier or heavier items could go on the floor?

Its not really retail practice.

You put stuff that makes money at eye level. You put the stuff that doesnt near the floor. Old CD's and DVD's are typically worth peanuts.

Im sure if you asked to look trhough them and pointed out you couldnt bend down theyd try and accomodate you (if theyre in a box maybe pop them at a table whilst you look through them).

Hello - such a quick reply! I appreciate that stuff that sells well should be at eye level but some of the stuff I see at eye level is also very cheaply priced I find. With regard to putting them on a table - I have yet to be in a charity shop where they have any spare space to do that, certainly not a spare table. I did ask on one occasion recently if I could look through a big box of some items (not CDs or DVDs) in their fitting room as that was the only place with a seat - I would not be able to stand for long periods either. (I did say that I would vacate the fitting room if someone wanted to use it). I should have included old vinyl records along with CDs and DVDs. Books are not an especially good seller these days I suspect - except in specialist charity bookshops - but they seem to be much easier to see. I hope I am not being nit-picking and I am certainly not complaining. I know most people are volunteers - I did some volunteer work in a charity shop myself some years ago. I just wondered if maybe CDs, DVDs and old vinyl might sell better if they were more easily accessible.

The price is irrelevant though. If it's a good seller they will put it at eye level.
