Freelance Journalism

Hi everyone!
I don't think this has been mentioned but I am really eager to get into journalism, and I think freelancing would be a good way to start out. I also thought it would be a handy side income project, hence why I am posting it in this board!

I just wondered if there are any Money Saving Experts who are freelance journalists themselves or have any tips on where to start out? I recently discovered a site called Brjit.com which pays around $5 in return for submitting an 'abstract' (which is basically a summary of an article somewhere). I submitted one the other day and I am yet to know if it's been accepted!

If any others have any tips/suggestions on how/where to earn through writing please share with us! :T
