Help With divorce & Mortgage

Hope someone can give some advice!

My best friend has split up with her husband. Now, They have a mortgage on their house which she wants to keep for her and her son (not his son). While she is finding out if she can buy him out, is he legally bound to still pay his half of everything? Mortgage and bills included?

As long as his name is on the mortgage he is jointly liable for it up untill when they sell or she re-mortgages without his name on it. the bill etc they will have to work out themselves.
