Mortgage brokers - faster?

Our broker has told us our new DIP was approved with Nationwide this morning and is submitting the full application tonight.
I was just wondering, do brokers submit more docs at DIP stage and have ways to help things move faster? I have read in other posts they present the mortgage in the best possible way and have more influence pushing things through than if someone applied directly.
Would just be interested to hear if the actual application itself is streamlined by a broker. Of course I know all the effort that has gone in on their part to get to this point.

We do not provide more documents or information at DIP or application stage than going direct.
If we have a case which gets declined unexpectedly, our income relies on it so it is in all of our interests to get a case through. Someone who is employed gets their wage no matter what the outcome. We also tend to have more experience packaging a case to give it a better chance of acceptance (assuming the broker is experienced).
It can also be quicker going via a broker as appointments can be flexible not just the banks opening hours and we can do a lot over phone/email.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
