Hi all ,
Having returned to the uk after 6 years having left after a messy divorce I tried to rent a property but failed the credit check
I see a company called Lowell has been putting a default on my account every months since 2013 for 2 accounts
I have never heard off Lowell or have I every entered into any financial agreement but they have entered me into a monthly payment plan and issue a default every month.
Are they allowed to do this ?
The dates are:
Start date 19/12/2012 defaulted 2/9/13
Start date 13/06/2012 defaulted 31/5/13

Have you started paying them?
Have you acknowledged the debt?
When was the last payment on the account?0 -
Now if the you have not made payment for 6 years, and haven’t told them you owe the debt, then it is statute barred.
Unfortunately, it will not drop off your credit file for another 4cand 8 months respectively. So you’ll have to deal with that, nothing can be done.0 -
I'd suggest sending them the "prove it" letter - if this is genuinely a mistake then that should shed light on it - hopefully someone like Sourcrates will be along shortly to provide more informed advice on this area though.
A thought though - it couldn't be anything to do with THIS could it? the dates seem to tie up quite closely, and if you left the country soon afterwards, that could be why any debt being passed to a third party would have passed you by.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
