My bankruptcy was approved today, if I open a bank account this week will it be safe from being frozen or should I wait to speak to the OR first?

When I went bankrupt I opened up 2 Basic accounts, one with Nationwide (contactless) and another with Natwest (also, contactless) I use one for wages and shopping, and the other for billing.
Reason for the Nationwide account, is because they told me that, they offer mortgages to people who have been discharged after 3 years, instead of most banks which won't look at you till over 6 years. Definitely been the best choice I've made with those 2 banks. Prior to bankruptcy I used Barclays, Halifax and HSBC. Neither of these banks will I recommend, especially HSBC for their knowledge and customer services, absolutely shocking experience with them.
    Hope this helps :)

I'm a huge fan of Nationwide and as the Banks desert the high street - Nationwide (not a bank) is moving in! I have found them to be the best bank (that's not a bank) I've ever had. :)

Ive applied for nationwide flexbasic and been accepted. The OR has said they will ask natwest not to freeze my account but we will see. Tomorrow is my interview with the OR. Im dreading it. Just worried that they will question that my bank account statement dont tally up with my expenses list.
  • How did the interview go??

It wasnt too bad... she asked things like why I made cash withdrawals from my cc in oct. She also asked for 2 years worth of bank statements but overall not bad
  • Did the OR question you about you account not tallying up to your expenses like you were worried about?

Well done, worst hopefully is over.

It's interesting how there seems to be no script with the ORs, what 1 allows, what 1 wants to see etc can be different. I wasn't asked for any bank statements for instance in Jan.

Not yet.. she did say that my figures need to be put into some kind of expenses calculator but said that nothing stood out.

She said she will be in touch. I gambled online bingo too probably about £2000-£3000 over 2 years so hoping I dont get a BRO. My parents have helped me with cash a bit because I never had any money from paying my debts. But that has had to stop now I explained all that to her aswell.

Just have to wait and see what happens now.

Yes you are right, she did say if I couldnt access them she could do it but it can take weeks.

HR were a joke I called and asked for payslips and they said it costs £10 per payslip to be EMAILED!

No surprise councils have so much money!
