Hi all,
Just thought I'd post my progress so far with full and final settlement offers....

Halifax/Lowell(managed by Moorcroft) £9096 debt offered 30% , they came back with 90% but haggled and they came down to 64%. That was last sept, today got them down to 50%

Barclaycard/Link £6950 owing, again offered 30% and they wanted 90%, just got them down to 70% but not willing to go any further.

MBNA/PRA Owed £2979, they want 70% and won't budge.

Lloyds Visa/Lowell owed £718 offered 30% and they settled at 40% :beer::beer:

I had some inheritance so can just about afford to clear at these rates and haven't gone down the route of checking if they are unenforceable as I'm concerned they will just sell on to some dodgy DCA and I'll end up with a load of hassle. Thoughts??

Paid 14K to date and Credit file now clear of defaults:j:j:j:j
Debt free in another 8 years! but if settle on current offers will be another 12K
So saving of 8K and all the interest!

    Thanks for moving me. Any thoughts as to how to proceed? Also is there a good place to post the settlement percentages as thats what I came on here for originally to get an idea of what might be accepted. Also thought my results would be of interest.

    All of these have already been sold. You've settled the Lloyds/Lowell one.

    Are you thinking of accepting the 50% deal from Halifax/Lowell?

    That would just leave Barclaycard/Link and MBNA/PRA and I think it is worth CCA-ing them to see if you can find a weakness and give you some more leverage.

    To be honest I’m thinking of settling all of them just to be done and dusted with it all. but as I said i’m Wondering that if I do CCAs and they can’t find the paperwork then they may sell on the debt and I’ll find myself having to deal with some dodgy DCA. I would obviously rather not be paying anything to the dregs of the financial world but part of me still says ‘it’s my debt and my responsibility’

  • Do the CCA, if don’t have it, they’ll most likely settle at around 5-10%

    This is about getting the best deal, and they should settle for better than 70%. No harm in CCA-ing them. Unlikely that they will be sold a second time, but it is to your advantage if they were.

    Thanks,
    How is it to my advantage if it’s sold on again?

  • If you settle the account, it should not be sold on.
