Help with self-assessment

Hi All,
I just wondered if I could get some advice. I am supporting a friend with a physical disability and mental health problems. He needs to complete a self assessment but is struggling to do this with his health difficulties. He is on a low income as he is only currently in receipt of benefits (previously had more income hence the need for self assessment). Does anyone know of a charity who can help him to complete his self assessment form? He will really struggle with the memory and concentration levels to do it himself.
Thank you for your help.

First things first. If he can't complete the return before Thursday there will be a penalty. However this can be appealed:

(see last entry)
That should reassure you to some extent. I can't help on the assistance front but it would appear that it should be a priority to get him removed from self-assessment.0 -
If his affairs are now more straightforward he may not need to do a self-assessment.
He can contact HMRC to discuss https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/hm-revenue-customs/contact/self-assessment
There is a section about getting help with additional needs and he can appoint you or someone else to discuss on his behalf.0
